[from beyond the video, a bird interrupts her confession almost on cue:]

[she angles the video quickly to a murder of about ten crows in the grass, at her feet, looking up at her. she brings the video back to her face.]

Umm. I fed one. It followed me three days ago, and I had some biscuits in my bag, and I unthinkingly fed it. The next day it brought two friends over. The next day, they also brought friends over. [it's a pyramic scheme of crows.] And now this. [there's a bit more caw-ing in the background, and the camera shakes while she moves to clearly feed them again, because she doesn't know any better.]

Also one swooped down to nip at a villager's hat today because he was looking at me, so I think I might have a murder. Of crows. On my hands. [she's secretly pleased with that wordplay.]

Corvids are extremely smart, so it's not really surprising they would... flock to one being kind to them.

I'm not sure birds would have been of much help there. No matter how smart, the problems of that city would have been a bit beyond them.

Among other languages, I do. And while to fully answer that question, I will need to find you and talk with them, I strongly suspect that the answer is 'yes,' if they are protective of you.

Certain things? Do you want me to teach them to play fetch?

To what? Grab you useful things? I was thinking drive off, say, dogs or foxes, but retrieving items is useful too. As an exchange for food? I have no idea, rabbits aren't inclined, and donkey's can be bribed with apples to move, not sure what else.

So far, they seem to have responded well to being fed. They remind me a little bit of cats, to be honest. Independent, but if you feed them they will bring friends next time.

He had a lot to check on after the weddings, and he blinks back to the house to startle a crow that flies to another room and absolutely does not make him jump backwards. (It definitely does.)

When he sees a half-dozen crows at the window and doesn't immediately spot someone who can explain, he pulls up the communicator and figures out what happened from the old text messages. What is it with everyone around him collecting pets? ]
