[ Kaneki is sitting on a hammock. Besides him there is a doll, which some people may remember or may not (yes, he still has it). And the neighbour hammock is barely seen but anyone can guess what is happening: there are moans and sighs and some suspicious movement. Yes, two people are having sex right besides him. Kaneki is too tired to fight any of this. ]

Don't mind them. That's my... fortune. From the fish. [ oh yeah. kaneki has been dealing with that since the trip begun. And he is about to get to the point, when his cursed doll slowly and creepily moves her head to stare at the two sailors and she curiously asks "Father?". Kaneki just covers her eyes with his hands whispering to her "Don't look at it".

ANYWAY. ]

When I first arrived in Ellethia, I was contacted by the Merchant and he asked me to acquire something hidden on the Spina hunting grounds. [ Kaneki reaches for his bag, pulling out an actual beating heart. yes, still beating. ] This is what I found. It's not human and the Merchant says it's leverage. He never explained what to do with it and what sort of leverage it provides, but told me to keep it.

I am not getting rid of it nor I will let you borrow it, but if anyone wants to have a look, be my guest.

[ and that would be it. But Kaneki pauses again, puts the heart back and releases his daughter doll who is now quiet and no longer staring at the two sailors having sex.]

... Also.

I consume humans. [ there you go. kaneki looks away, pretending to be looking at the doll instead ] The crew isn't particularly happy about my presence and I don't expect you to be happy about it either. But I realize the word is going around and I figured there is no point trying to keep this under wraps. [ the Merchant's people DO carry dead bodies around for Kaneki, after all. Mr. Ishmael has passed and they kept the body in the ship. Kaneki himself is keeping a lot of undead body parts for later. Someone is bound to question things at some stage ]

That will be all. [ and he quickly turns off the video ]

[ Admittedly, he only half-heard what was being said due to the excess moaning. He definitely picked up the cannibalism part which is not quite so odd to him because he's used to being around vampires who mostly do the same. ]

Are we not going to discuss the background noise? Because I feel like that warrants even a small mention.

[enucleation]

[ he sighs] A fish gave me a fortune that says everytime I try to fall asleep, there will be a... passionate couple rights besides me. Always.

[ Kaneki gestures to his side and yes the two sailors are still at it ]

Glad to see someone is enjoying our high-seas adventure. I'm almost a little envious of them at this point.

[ Not so much of Kaneki who is likely not to get any good sleep for a while. ]

And about... requiring regular sustenance, does it have to be fresh?

[enucleation]

Good for them. [ he makes a small face. He is not happy about this at all. At first it was really embarrassing, but now he is just tired, cranky and sick of having to watch and hear whatever these sailors do at night ]

And no. I have been consuming the undead. [ and they have been rotting for a while, for sure ]

[incantates]

So more of a Night of the living Dead situation. At least I know who to forward all the corpses I come across to. Does synthetic, magically-produced flesh do anything for you?

[ He's a little concerned about the hunger hitting when they're all away from dry land with nary a fresh corpse to be found. ]

[enucleation]

I'm not an undead myself. I'm a thing with a very restrictive diet. And sadly synthetic does not replace it.

I don't need to eat often, though. Once a month. [ a full human once a month. Honestly, he would normally eat a lot more, but they are stuck at sea and he doesn't know for how long, so he is making sure to hold for as long as it's possible. he cut up a lot of undead and has been keeping them for when he needs it. ]

[incantates]

Always good to know. I'll keep an eye out if anyone spontaneously drops dead or drowns. Hopefully, we'll reach land soon.

[ A month at sea... nope. he does not miss boat-travel one bit. ]

In the meantime, I know a spell or two that could blot out the noise temporarily so you can sleep.

[enucleation]

I'm hoping for the same. But thank you v- although I don't wish anyone to drop dead. [ Kaneki would rather not eat people he has travelled with

but that offer perks him up a little ]

Truly? This has been a long journey. [ he is so tired, Magnus....... ]

[incantates]

Neither do I, but that seems to happen quite a bit on long boat rides with negligible amounts of sanitation.

[ Thankfully, he's only seen a moderate amount of rats on the ship as opposed to a lot... ]

And just let me know which boat you're on, and I'll hop over there to cast a quick spell for the evening.

[enucleation]

And everywhere we go. [ there are always so many dead people around them.

I'm over the Queen Zanyra right now. I usually hide in the Crow's nest, but this night it weas occupied. I will wait for you at the bottom, however.

You have a point, and I should be there with a quick snap of my fingers. The beauty of portal-travel.

[ Which he's kind of wishing he used instead of boarding these ships, but the risks had outweighed the benefits at the time. ]
