[ The video starts to show John and Kaneki, and in the background there is a doll. Before any of the two can say anything, she asks “what is that” and although Kaneki looks back at her, he doesn’t answer. John’s eyes roll briefly towards the sky, and then he makes himself smile, and look back at the camera.
It’s a tense smile. He doesn’t love being on video. He talks first, though. ]
Hi.
The two of us went to get water from the well, with the lighthouse keeper. Something was wrong, though. His reflection in the water was wrong, and he pushed us in. [ A beat. ] Or someone did, I guess.
Anyway, we found our way out through a gate, and then we found this place, like a small safe house. There were a lot of weird things down there, but maybe the weirdest was that someone had scratched “The Truth Bows to the Sun”, in the stone. There were a lot of names written there, too. I think, the names of the dead. But there was one that was repeated, and each time it was written differently. It was Matthias, and it said he was the master of the halls.
[ John glances at Kaneki then, before refocusing on the camera. ]
I guess we wondered if anyone else has come across…anything like that.
[ while John explains himself, the doll seems frozen, her expression withered, but suddenly she moves only to start singing in a very child-like voice. Kaneki looks back at her and sighs, before he finally addresses the elephant in the room. ] We have also found a doll.
[ Against better judgment-- ] I… took it along and I’m not entirely sure what to do with it to be honest. [ the doll speaks again “Where is my father?” and finally Kaneki turns to her with a soft expression. “I don’t know, I’m sorry”, but the haunted toy doesn’t seem to acknowledge that answer and simply goes quiet again ]
Any idea on what to do with it?
[ John leans briefly forward. ]
The guy who told me he worked with spirits? If you’re around, can you look at this thing? I swear it’s like the Bride of Chucky waiting to happen. [ Kaneki can be heard in the background muttering "She has been fine thus far." ]
( ooc; this is related to Kaneki's and John's plot roll. )

Kaneki's probably haunted for life. Which'll be a lot shorter than he thinks if it ends up that I'm haunted, too.

I did have a vision of a man in a white coat, who may be related to her, but no other information.

He did throw us into the well, however, so perhaps he is chatty.

That can't end badly.
I take it asking her where her dad is hasn't helped? I guess they don't teach dolls their address and mommy and daddy's name, huh?

But no, she doesn't seem to be aware of what we ask or say, and says little that would make sense.

Can she walk or just talk?

I have no plans on bringing her along. I'm leaving her behind.

[ Just to be clear. John was not on board with that decision. ]
She doesn't really answer questions, she just keeps repeating the same thing, and then going dead for a while.

Also that she's asking for Daddy totally makes it so much better.
[ Yeah, nope. He'll stick with the shadows he's seeing. ]
Do you have her like bound? Tapped up? In a box? Something?

Do not award it the privilege of your names.

Do you think she might be evil?

However, she was built. She has also not done anything too strange just yet.

[ Not least because he hasn't told anyone his real name, and doesn't mean to. ]
Do you think you can look at it, see if it needs, like. An exorcism, or something?

Best you isolate her.

We saw a similar thing, written in Ellethia-Hamsour. The second stop we made, before coming here that is. Names, written on grave markers, with the same words alongside.
The Truth Bows to the Sun.

I was just told that it was a symbol of Ellethia. One of our group came across it on the Stairs of Sighs, though I am afraid that does not mean much to me. It was before my time here.
