Now that we are once more on solid ground, I have no doubt our days will be very busy, but as it is, we still have matters to discuss pertaining to our previous trip.

The artefact that was used to call out the giant sea monster, a human tongue which has been ascertained to still be 'alive' in spite of being separated from the rest of its body, is presently under the guard of Master Five.

[See how he didn't say you stole it and tried to hide it, Five? That's his one concession to your pride.]

It is the second such artefact we are now carrying, following the heart that is in Master Kaneki's possession as well. And so far we cannot ascertain their origin, or if they might belong to the same individual or not. And given their power, the question comes to us of what to do with them.

There have been some in favor of destroying them, others wanting to study them. both are, at present, warded, but there is no telling that we might be able to keep containing them for any length of time, and we have all seen what happens when they are not contained.

Their relation to the mirrors, and the undead, is also still nebulous. I think we found out there was at least one mirror on one of the ships, but has someone found out if it was used and what for?

Lady Emilia also judiciously mentioned that they seem to have the ability to excite beasts, which was also a power the Beastmaster possessed, and the Beastmaster was the first we learned of the original and most powerful undead possible being made with mirrors.

I do not believe the fate of those objects should be decided by one alone, given that they can affect us all, and those around us. So what do you think we should do with them?

As a matter of fact, yes. I am not equipped to detect if anyone is alive or dead, so that is best left to others better adept at it.

So I need to occupy myself otherwise.

Do you think I'm going to summon a sea monster the second everyone's back is turned? If I wanted to do that, I wouldn't have insisted to have it sealed away in the first place.

I think these artefacts should be properly examined by people who can tell us more about what they are and what they do.

And I know you tried to hide that you had kept this one from everyone. What motive could you possibly have to do that?

What people? Anyone who claims to be an expert on magic tongues and hope they give it back when they're done?

I told you already, the fewer people who knew about it, the safer it would be. And since you already pointed out that I can't trust any of you, I was the best available option.

Are we supposed to blindly trust you, then? You, who doesn't trust a single one of us?

You have no actual data to prove it would be safer to hide this from the rest of our group. There are people among us who have magical abilities that could at least allow for a bit more clarity on this. And your track record with magical artefacts is shaky at best.

[ He knows he's saying that same thing to anyone he can, knowing Five can hear him, but he's stopping short of telling them what that track record is.

It's a bargaining chip he's only going to be able to use once, and he doesn't really think he'll waste it here. ]

I never said I was handling it alone. I made sure it was warded and hidden from anyone who might go looking, but I couldn't even get in the box if I wanted to.

We barely got off the ships. You don't think that this place is crawling with people who know exactly what they're looking for? It's too soon to be taking it out to play with.

It might not be the time to do a anything about it just yet, but we can still talk about it.

Would you deny you were hoping people would simply forget about the matter altogether?

But this isn’t really about the artefact, is it? You’re trying to teach me a lesson.

It's about the safety of everyone, and if you do see it as a lesson, that is a bonus.

That would be because I know nothing of it, mostly because unless I am mistaken you did not exactly share that with anyone.

[ It was implied! Obviously they didn't just politely hand it over to him, not to mention having the extremely unpleasant experience of convincing Wrathion to listen to reason. ]

I probably wouldn't have brought it up right away, no. Some things, like rare powerful artefacts that are actively being hunted, don't need to be discussed in public.

I wasn't trying to get any credit, I was trying to keep you morons alive.
