Now that we are once more on solid ground, I have no doubt our days will be very busy, but as it is, we still have matters to discuss pertaining to our previous trip.

The artefact that was used to call out the giant sea monster, a human tongue which has been ascertained to still be 'alive' in spite of being separated from the rest of its body, is presently under the guard of Master Five.

[See how he didn't say you stole it and tried to hide it, Five? That's his one concession to your pride.]

It is the second such artefact we are now carrying, following the heart that is in Master Kaneki's possession as well. And so far we cannot ascertain their origin, or if they might belong to the same individual or not. And given their power, the question comes to us of what to do with them.

There have been some in favor of destroying them, others wanting to study them. both are, at present, warded, but there is no telling that we might be able to keep containing them for any length of time, and we have all seen what happens when they are not contained.

Their relation to the mirrors, and the undead, is also still nebulous. I think we found out there was at least one mirror on one of the ships, but has someone found out if it was used and what for?

Lady Emilia also judiciously mentioned that they seem to have the ability to excite beasts, which was also a power the Beastmaster possessed, and the Beastmaster was the first we learned of the original and most powerful undead possible being made with mirrors.

I do not believe the fate of those objects should be decided by one alone, given that they can affect us all, and those around us. So what do you think we should do with them?

The people that have examined the tongue are saying it is human. It might be good for more people to see it so we can make certain.

Honestly, I would be inclined to agree. And so is one of the people who retrieved it. So far, I cannot see any good reason not to.

Master Five seems staunchly opposed, and I would love to hear his reasoning on it given what happened the last time he was in the possession of such a thing.

I was persuaded that, in the past, destruction of artefacts has proven unwise.

[ A delicate, coded reply -- he's not really sure how many people know about that whole incident. He certainly wasn't aware. Perhaps everyone but him already was? That would be maddening! ]

I'm not certain if that applies to ours, but I do certainly dislike carrying around items that may have unforeseen effects while on our person.

It is true that destruction has had bad consequences before. But so has secrecy. [He hears you loud and clear, Wrathion, but he is similarly keeping it a bit under wraps because who knows when revealing that info might be useful.]

I see no reason why people should not know this thing is in the possession of one in our group, but Master Five seems to disagree.

The best solution for now would be for someone more versed in that type of magic to actually examine the thing.

I'm rather new here, but I vote for not destroying them. It's usually best not to blow something up, in a manner of speaking, without fully knowing the consequences. It might be worse than carrying them around.

I also probably wouldn't leave them lying about for someone else to come along and pick up. But that's just me.

There are pros and cons to both keeping it and destroying it. I do believe they should, at the very least, be examined thoroughly.

There is no chance at the moment that anyone will find them by chance. The people holding them I at least trust with that with no reservation.

It may not be for me to say, as I have not been traveling with you, but it sounds to me that these artefacts may be critical to our understanding. Destroying them without further knowledge may endanger us further.

It is good they are guarded, and perhaps best they are kept separate at the moment, but why not have the scholars in our company study them?

Is there a reason to believe that these persons currently holding the warded body parts shouldn't be trusted to keep them like that? Destroying anything related to magic always comes with consequences. I for one don't know a stormstruck thing about the magics here other than how pervasive and perverse they appear to be, so what advantage is there to trying to do anything other than hold and guard bodyparts that have demonstrated dangerous, magical effects?

Because I can't imagine anything beneficial from that magic being released by the unwary.

But if we are to carry such dangerous things, we might as well know as much as possible lest we end up doing something unwise out of ignorance.

The box is secure and hidden. I have the experience required to keep it so for the time being. Five made no effort to hide it from me. I knew almost immediately.
