[Whatever projects image with the communication talismans/crystals/what-have-you goes decidedly zoooom as it gets yanked, bird holding it in its beak and all, back into Hermione's outstretched hand. She wrestles it out of the beak, and sends the mad bird flying with a shielding spell, on camera.

Then finally, harried and disheveled, her face appears in the video in full glory: the scratches at the edge of her face, and neck, and the mad look. It melts into concern, when she notices the device is transmitting.]

Oh - balls. [A sigh.] There's something wrong with the birds. They've been attacking all morning - and no, these aren't mine. I've seen farmers try to chase them from the crops, so everyone please be aware.

Most have had little success but this one has a very small sharp beak. I am concerned for my circulatory system.

What is Accio Communicator? Have you augmented your device for mobility?

[reparo]

[A pause, little, but there.] You heard that? Drat, the stupid beak must've turned video on...

[And then the sigh, too.] It's - as simply as I can put it - a spell. It summoned the device back to me. It doesn't work all that well here, so it also summoned the bird.

It looks like - they're focusing mostly on the fields and on the poles, but - I've already heard one villager warn against killing them.

[Sceptic:] Apparently, they "remember".

Of course. They're superstitious about everything, even if it makes them starve to death. [ Actually going over to a window now to see what they're dealing with. ...Well, shit. That is a lot of birds. ]

That really doesn't seem like a coincidence to you?

That sounds like a reason for me to no longer be on the streets.

So... that's probably a new curse. Yet another one. First the foxes, then the snake, and now the birds.

Are the villagers scared or do they seem used to it?

Honestly, they seem scared? But they also do not seem surprised - I've been scolded for shooing one off already. Apparently they have memory, do with that what you will.

[Now, Hermione. Crows have memory, too.] No, alright. I believe them. You think it's another curse? What is wrong with this place?!

so, just like the other curses, they complain about the effects, but they don't seem to want to actually do anything to make it go away... this is really strange.

Do you think they're cursed with accepting their curses?

Maybe we're the strange ones for trying to actually work and get rid of ours.

Something drove them to this point - some of the birds are not predatorial at all. It's like they've gone mad - like the foxes.

Sizhui - I have tried with potions, but magic won't get rid of them. I think they have to do with my ancestral curse...

[A pause, and she Looks Closely.]

Have you...gotten rid of yours?

[ Sizhui looks down in the amulet-transmitted connection, since that's possibly the one place he sees clearly anymore, but also hums. ]

I am working on it. I have been trying to make food to give to people who are homeless around here, without straining too much the resources already thin because draught.

[ Even if people have coin, that does not make water or crops appear where they were not. ]

Perhaps I just have not given out enough yet.
