un: man's greatest treasure (video)
[-- a scramble of images: sky, trees, rooftops. And noise: flapping of wings, birds cawing, and in the distance, for those who recognise her voice, Hermione Granger yelling-]
Give that back! I don't want to hurt y - ow, you little - Accio communicator.
[Whatever projects image with the communication talismans/crystals/what-have-you goes decidedly zoooom as it gets yanked, bird holding it in its beak and all, back into Hermione's outstretched hand. She wrestles it out of the beak, and sends the mad bird flying with a shielding spell, on camera.
Then finally, harried and disheveled, her face appears in the video in full glory: the scratches at the edge of her face, and neck, and the mad look. It melts into concern, when she notices the device is transmitting.]
Oh - balls. [A sigh.] There's something wrong with the birds. They've been attacking all morning - and no, these aren't mine. I've seen farmers try to chase them from the crops, so everyone please be aware.
[ooc; LET'S GO PLOT, LET'S GO.]

I am working on it. I have been trying to make food to give to people who are homeless around here, without straining too much the resources already thin because draught.
[ Even if people have coin, that does not make water or crops appear where they were not. ]
Perhaps I just have not given out enough yet.

Would you share what curse you're dealing with? Maybe I can offer some help.

[ Sizhui hesitates a little, then speaks clearly if softly. ]
After a cripplingly hard winter, many families had been left without supplies. A rich man renown for his lavish celebration held a new year's feast, so many gathered at the man's gates to beg scraps. Cruelly, he only showed his face once, throwing bones with hardly any meat morsels left on them at the assembled crowds. He told them to tear each other down for the scraps, while he feasted before them.
[ Sizhui is Disappointed in that ancestor but also sad, because disappointed as much as he is - that is disrespectful, and he doesn't know how to not have that reaction to the past. But that's all right. He can deal with it. Probably. ]

Wealthy men are terrible. [In before: eat the rich.] So you've taken it upon you to feed the poor? [She considers it, a little bit.] I don't know that I'd do anything differently myself. I'm not sure what works - there's no data I can collect, and analyse and compare. It's very frustrating...
[A shake of her head.] Anyway - would you want help? I could maybe...try to multiply resources a bit?

Ah..?
If you wish - and if you will allow me to help with yours?
yes good this whole thread has been building up to this, thanks kiki
But - She smiles at that.]
I can give you some of my W.A.P. leaflets - and badges, if you wanted to join. I suppose I should've called it Feminists Against Poisoners, but F.A.P. just sounds silly.

She suffered a great loss, and took it out on other young brides with poisoned face paints that left them marred.
[She can't exactly launch a foundation line here.]

That still - could you explain about badges and feminists?
[ The actual words he got stuck on. ]
1/3 because LESSONS
[Of course, that makes sense. The levels of technology from one world to another - or one timeline to another - are so different, she may as well have called it a nargleblaster.]
Sorry about that - of course I can.

And wearing a badge usually is done to show someone you are part of a group. That you believe in a common cause or thing. So for example, you would have people wearing the sigil of their favourite sports team, or you can have badges that are meant to cause a stir, or a riot. You could wear them to show you belong to a specific group, or to fight for a specific cause, or because you want to send a message to those in power in a non-violent way.

[A pause.] With different levels of success. There's a lot of divergent branches of feminism, really, and some of the older ones are quite wrong about a lot of things and a little bit reductive, but - oh, I'm sorry, I went on a ramble again.
Did I clear that up?

He hums. ]
I understand better now, thank you.
I will be glad to give information and... badges. And the poisoning is a good thing to mend.

Splendid, you can have some then. [And what kind of a cruel village woman would ignore a face that sweet? What kind of A Monster? Sizhui is going to spread the word better than her resting b-face would, for sure.]
Now, to point - there is a saying when I'm from, you know? Give a man a fish and he'll not be hungry for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he'll not be hungry again.
It's...definitely counting on endless amounts of fish and don't take it literally, but perhaps this kind of approach? Maybe we could open up a soup kitchen.
