[ it takes some time, but eventually Yennefer figures out how to use the widget she was given and starts a connection, which she wouldn't bother with if she hadn't experienced what she did with Eleven and Moiraine. so, she had some questions for the rest of the group.

unfortunately, she's all business and foregoes any proper introduction to those she has not yet had the privilege of meeting yet. ]

I'd start this out by asking if anyone has done any dream walking lately, but I think it only adds to the mounting list of fucked up things that have already been going on. So, I'll just ask if anyone has been lured up to the 11th floor by our strange and fatuous host and if so, what their experience was like.

[ That seems the best way to open things up. The conversation might not be received as well if she starts with informing everyone that her and her companions have done the reasonable thing by killing the twenty people sleeping on the 11th floor. ]

We did. He spoke of needing help and led us up and through a locked door.

Did he ask you for help, as well?

How did you get past the hand ... thing? Zenobius pressed his hand to it and it unlocked the door.

The sign asks what you wish for. The door appears to unlock if you state a wish. As with all wish-based things, I would not put a great deal of trust in it.

Right. The sign and then the warning under it. In my experience, nothing good comes from wishes.

What did you see when you got through the door?

[he willingly went to the 11th floor, because he's nosy as fuck. the fact that he got a free wish out of it that turned out -- mostly okay was just icing on the cake]

It was like walking into a coma ward.

They weren't fully asleep.

Zenobius was tending to their personal care and we stayed to help. Things were going well enough until one of them grabbed hold of my arm. The next thing I know, I'm seeing her memories in a dream.

Turns out it happened to the other two, as well.

Sirens awaited them closer to land.

I mean, they looked a little beat up? And one of the other guys suggested that, like, maybe the undead got to them and drained all their energy?

What is dream walking exactly?

I have not seen the 11th floor. What did you find?

[ now she has to wonder. The mark on her arm suggests the one that pulled her in physically did so. Yennefer decides the point is rather moot now. ]

The first was a man holding his arm to his chest. He had been attacked by something with sharp teeth and claws and was bleeding. Then a woman with short hair stood in front of several mirrors, all of which had different reflections.

And then I could see the other two I was with. There was a celebration. Nine sleepers and Zenobius.

[ wait, only nine? There are ten Sleepers... rather were. ]

Yes, I got the impression from what I saw that a party had gone bad. They'd been attacked by, I don't know, perhaps the mermaids.

It almost felt as if they were set up somehow. Betrayed.

Do you think he did that on purpose? Maybe as a sort of sacrifice? I immediately felt he shouldn't be trusted.

[ But she wanted to know what was beyond that 11th-floor door. ]

As it sounds, really. Walking in dreams. Most of the time in someone else's.

I advise staying away from it then.

[ That doesn't answer her question of what she found but maybe the warning would elude to finding something that wasn't too pleasant. ]

[ At first, her thoughts are so deeply involved in what has been going on over the last several days to notice a recurring presence every time she looks beyond what is immediately in front of her. That presence was in the form of a person and one that Yennefer first notes visually while looking over a balcony railing.

As the day wears on, it seems to happen more often, enough for her to be able to pick him out quickly among a scattering of people. If she spots him when he's closer in proximity, he carries a box. And if he looks her way, something unfortunate always seems to happen to her.

Yes, very curious, indeed.

On her way down to the ground floor from the eighth, where she was staying in a room, Yennefer was focused on returning to Ellethia-Allayar when her eyes settled on the same seemingly young man and she lost her footing and tumbled down to where he stood. ]

I do not think that our friend here paints exactly the fairest picture of Zenobius' motivations, that day.

There was a storm, out on the sea. A ship was in distress. He used the mirrors, up on the 12th floor, to signal them to shore. Unfortunately the light of the beacon caught the attention of a swarm of mermaids as well.

He did seem genuinely relieved to discover we had not allowed these men to perish with the others.

It seems then maybe he doesn't exactly have the best of luck when it does come to having good intentions.

Ten people on the 11th floor were left in a comatose state. Zenobius takes care of them and attends to them well enough, whether that's out of guilt or responsibility remains unknown. But I've been made privy to their memories through dreams of the days they were here.

[ Since she can't be sure when exactly the memories took place, Yenn will remain vague on specifics.

More of an interest really. But once inside the room, discovering Zenobius was keeping ten unconscious people in relative secrecy piqued my interest only further.
