[ After long consideration - couldn't she just approach the women in their group fitting the prince's description? - she's decided, reluctantly, this is the best way to pose the question. ]

The prince would apparently like to speak to one of you. The best description he could give was dark-haired, beautiful, with feet.

[ All said with absolute dry seriousness, if she's still a little nonplussed by 'she has feet.' More and more he reminds her of a daemon, talking nonsense that isn't nonsense. ]

I said I would ask.

[ A raised eyebrow, impressed that she was able to put him to sleep. With herbs, chemicals, or magic? ]

I cannot see you finding any more success if you risk meeting him again, then. Not without a different tactic.

I assure you, the risk would not be mine.

( She was caught off guard the first time, voracious in her desire to learn. But if Haiva, or any of the royals, were to become a threat to her, she is not the one trapped with them. They would be the ones trapped with her. )

What tactic do you suggest?

[ Oh, Emilia. What a catch. Vanessa 'hmm's and shakes her head. ]

No matter what I say, I could not even begin to know how to subdue a royal. I might have only worsened the matter by using force in such a predicament.

( A hint of amusement, of rue, touches her lips. )

I cannot deny it: the option was sorely tempting. I don't know if reining in my temper was worth the information gleaned. We still know so little about this woman and why she disappeared.

I wish I could say it would be worth it to risk the Crown's ire to allow yourself that catharsis, but...

[ Tight-lipped for a moment, Vanessa grimaces. It really had been risky of Sir Malcolm to use Vanessa for 'negotiation' so often. ]

There are other ways, no? I know there are some within our company of heroic vagrants who are able to read minds, or perceive hidden understandings as others cannot.
