un: man's greatest treasure [text]
[While on the boat ride from hell, there's a point in the first night where Hermione decides what the hell, for morale.]
I have mint leaves for anyone who is sea-sick, so please reach out if you would like some. I can float them to your boat. Chewing on peppermint would've been better, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
[There is a pause on her end here, before she writes out the rest:]
For whoever is holding the candles lit, if you are having trouble staying awake or keeping calm, maybe we can exchange stories. Surely if we whisper into our pendants...
Oh, one more thing! Does anyone know how to change the display name on these bloody things?

[What she wants to say is: for a wild moment when talking to Karsa, she'd thought for sure that was her could-be future; if Harry and Ron hadn't actually befriended her, would she have ended up that focused on skill and knowledge as to ignore common sense and kindness? Diplomacy?]
Nevermind. I don't have a clue why we've left her behind. I don't know why we've taken on Hatisse, or why we're headed where we're headed - and I hate it. I hate not knowing.

If the three are smart, they will not reveal their true motives though I imagine it all comes down to the one biggest motivator for many beings: power. It comes in many varieties. ( it is the reason he chose to fall - so he could finally have choice of his own. power when he had been powerless. ) More frustrating is they are already aware of our own collective motive, which creates a power imbalance between us and them regardless of what we may learn.

I hate people like this.

So how can we assert our own power when others have power over us? We make our own choices. We seek our own knowledge. We play a role to a certain extent so long as it serves us. We remain aware of what can be used against us, and we present a defense against it. Never let anyone see what might affect you, what might be used against you.

[you fucking Slytherin.]
I have to defend the benefit of teaming up. Maybe not with the other unknown variables, but definitely with each other. One person can't solve this whole mess alone.

( but he is definitely a Slytherclaw through and through even before he fell into Hell )
I agree. There is a benefit to having allies especially within a world that limits us so. Our entire group is necessary in finding the appropriate path home and not being used by those with more power than us. ( not that he enjoys admitting that )

And you utilized power of your own - magic like Lily's through a wand with the necessary words to accompany? Does this magic come from within?

It does feel like that, yes. Lily and I are from the same world, actually. We even went to the same school, though at different times.

It is still strange to know your world has many schools to teach magic, especially after already having experienced witch hunters. But it is vital, important even if they've grown complacent in some areas as you mentioned previously ( within his own world, witches must hide, but it leaves much to be desired in terms of training and having the tools to protect oneself. )

I am malvagi - One of the Seven, the General of War, Prince of Wrath. Few here appear to be aware the stories associated with my brothers and I, and the titles have little meaning in a world so separated from my own so I have had little reason to give them.
