un: fox rain [voice]
Hey, um, everyone. So, I uh - I know we have a lot going on right now, but uh - we may have more? Going on? Soon? Though I really want to talk about the implications of body switching sorcery but that's not the point --
Anyway, so, uh, for those of you from Earth - and from a vaguely similar time line to ours - you might remember something called the French Revolution. Yeah? Where the upper class got in some deep shit and a lot of unrest went down and a lot of killing happened.
Anyway, um, so our charge - Tamaiu's niece, Eydis - she's uh, the belle of the ball. Basically. I can barely show my face at court anymore but she's got like a billion suitors, which is all great -- if you like that sort of attention -- but one of them gave her a pretty dire warning.
He told her to flee Taravast and go back home to Sa-Hareth - you know, place being run by our friendly neighbourhood undead guy with a bear for a pet, super safe place - because unrest is starting to 'mount in the streets' and the gentry are going to be a target.
I know this sounds like no big deal compared to literal undead invasions, but we do not want to ignore something like this. Not when we, thanks to our patronage, are not only gentry but foreign gentry. They may not be zombies but when people decide that enough is enough they can overthrow anything.
Anyway, um. Just. Uh. Food for thought.

. .. …
No. No, we are not likely to find a plane. That was sarcasm.
Though honestly who fucking knows, maybe hey have a dirigible hidden somewhere.
… Hmm, I wonder if I could enchant something into a dirigible….

I'm good, but even I'm not that good.

[ The grin is audible in his voice: ]
Consider it a worthy test of your abilities, then.

Absolutely not. I will cuff you to me before I let that happen, don't try me.

...Is this also sarcasm?

Basically a dirigible is like, a really big baloon that can travel people through the sky for long distances. They, uh, there were a few disasters back home that meant that planes ended up way more useful and likely, but the tech required to make a dirigible is hypothetically more achievable in a place like this.
For planes we would need a lot more, um, stuff.

A big balloon...that almost sounds like a lantern, of sorts. Though if it were to carry people, it really would have to be large. And with a lot of fire, I imagine.
[No wonder there were disasters back in Fox's home. But it could be possible here, even though none of that is Xingchen's expertise.]
It would be safer for most people to simply walk.

It's not more fire, technically, it just needs to be lighter than air. There are gases that are, it's just a matter of being able to manufacture them at that scale. Which is doable with magic - it's just a matter of splitting molecules down into their respective pieces after all.
Man, this really might actually be worth trying--
[ Good job, Xingcheng, he is completely distracted. ]

[Fox goes on and on, though, and, once again, loses Xingchen. But that's fine.]
I defer to you in this matter, then. You are clearly quite knowledgeable.

Uh- Sorry. I really go, um, off on a tangent sometimes. What was I trying to say originally...

Yeah, I think ultimately she's safest with us, but um, want to make sure we are safe too, you know what I mean?
"Safest" doesn't mean "safe".
