Hello, this is Hermione Granger - you will hopefully excuse me for not using the video component of these fascinating crystals, but I find it easier to string my thoughts together in writing.

I have been thinking about potions. In the world that I come from, we have a number of them that are capable of doing many things, from healing to sobering up to allowing someone to be someone else for a few hours. They were developed by very fascinating and smart witches and wizards, however it was with local ingredients, shall we say?

I would wish to try and write down the ones I remember by heart, by dint of having brewed them so much. The question is, once remembered, would they be of any use, if the ingredients here are not the same? And more importantly, how would I test them for efficacy if not on myself?

Maybe a better use of time would be to learn to brew the ones that the local witches came up with, but I am not fond of their brand of magic - and there is the matter of cost, of course.

On that note, does anyone want completely useless corsets? Wear them or burn them, at this point I doubt anyone would care, but as tensions towards magic-wielders grow I reckon I should start pretending to be that bloody modiste.

You never know when hands and legs is all you have to defend yourself with, I suppose.

exactly. in my world, they taught us to fight without our powers. so that we'd never be unprepared.

In mine they assumed we would not fight, then they tried to stop us from it, and were surprised to find we trained ourselves to defend ourselves in secret.

that sounds like it was a dangerous assumption. i'm glad you found a way to prepare anyway.

Oh, it was. It worked in our favour, in the end - or maybe we made it work.

I'm not very well versed in physical fighting, though.

i don't think i make the best teacher, but i could share what i know with you if you ever want.

I've seen how capably you can defend yourself, don't forget.

in fairness, that was with my power. i'm not as great a fighter as i am at using my powers, but i've been told i'm passable.

I did not have time to ask, though you barely batted an eye for all the magic I was doing...

i'm Grisha. we manipulate the small science. we all have different Grisha abilities. i'm a sun summoner specifically.

As in you summon the sun?

light from the sun, yes.

Well, I hope that you don't find this bold, but I do like learning more about the magic abilities that others have. In my (admittedly limited) time here I've come to see that there is more magic than just the one I was taught to wield.

I'll brew you some healing potions, just in case.

i don't mind showing and explaining what i can. we shouldn't need any healing potions for just demonstrating.

There is a salve I used to make that would have been perfect for the time we met, it will never not frustrate me that I didn't have any.
