[As usual, please ignore the ... background noise. Moran has tried to find a quiet place to speak from, but some of the noise is from the network, not his surroundings, and he'll be speaking through most of it without paying attention to it.]

With the news that our good friend who freed us from our chains gave us, I think we might need to hasten our money gathering. We have been doing alright for living expanses, but if we wish to accumulate the amount he mentioned, it will take more than that.

I'm not sure how we can do this short of robbing a bank, though. Does anyone have any good ideas?

We certainly might not want to be, but being beggars is also not helping us much at the moment, and what gainful employment some of us has managed to find will not yield the amount needed in so little time.

I am afraid we're going to have to be somewhat practical about this, but I am unsure how to proceed further.

If you have an excellent idea of how to gather that much money in that little time, Master Lan, by all means, I am all ears.

I have no preference in how the coin is acquired, but acquired it must be, one way or another.

Even if we do not wish to, our 'benefactors' clearly expect to get us out of this city all together. And quite frankly, it seems in our best interest to do so until we are in better circumstances than here.

We all seem to have appeared here for no reason, don't we? Even if that is our only common point, it is a significant one.

Five listens to some of those other conversations for a while before he continues. They'd probably have a problem with how he's survived so far. But this one sounds more realistic. ]

Right. I think we all know that we shouldn't be here. There's obviously more than a couple of factors at work behind this, and all of them require a sense of urgency. [ To put lightly... He's thinking out loud now, deciding for himself what's actually needed. ] If we're going to work together, we need to consider all the options.

If I had a little more time, that kind of money would not be too bad. But if we are supposed to leave in a moon's time...

[ It's easier to make money when you have money, but even so, it's usually not fast.

Every little bit helps, Xunxian. We're just starting from a position of disadvantage, and we do have living expenses that make gathering funds complicated. Especially that much.

And you heard Haltham. Clearly, they do not expect us to strictly follow all the laws of the land acquiring said funds.

I heard him. There was a lot that he didn't say. A lot he probably didn't know - or used well-placed ignorance to make us think he didn't.

It's not coin that we are at a disadvantage for. It's information. But...

[ Xunxian rolls his shoulders. ]

Now, about this bank thing...

[He looks almost amused at that.]

A surprising number of people seem rather enthusiastic about the possibility. And a few are objecting, mostly on moral grounds, which are understandable but unfortunately not exactly practical.

[There's been a fair amount of chatter coming from these necklaces, but this one definitely grabs Xingchen's attention and he's hardly happy about it.]

Surely we have not already sunk so low as to resort to robbing.

I would hope not. But as of now, we have mostly managed to pay for our board and food. How can we set money aside in such a short time? Especially when we have been asked to be discreet. We do... stand out, somewhat.

I have never had to earn money before so I am not sure how one goes about these things.

Then we must work harder like any honest man, not take from others who also need the money. For those of us who can manage it, we can eat less. I can go without for some time and I'll happily start to do so to ease up on any spending. I've also been able to fetch what I think is a decent price on any salt I've gathered from the mines. Surely if more of us who can protect themselves from the corpses helped out, we'd have the needed funds in time.

[A sigh can be heard.]

But say you do go through with this. What plans do you have to make up for it? Would you find a way to pay the money back? Would you try and do some good deed to counter it?

And I am sure we will all contribute in whatever way we are able, daozhang. Not eating hardly seems like a good solution with the cold front, though. I would not recommend it.

And of course I do not wish to do harm on anybody. If we can find honest ways to make enough coin, that is more than fine... but we are pressed for time. If you have any good ideas that do not needlessly endanger your life, I am all ears.

I heard "robbing a bank". Not usually my thing, but I can do the Robin Hood routine if we rob from the rich and give to the poor.

"The poor" in this case meaning "ourselves".

And, you know. Local poor.

Gotta leave the place at least a little better than we found it.

... It appears this 'bank robbing' is more popular than I thought it would be. And here I was only saying that in jest.

but if we are indeed doing it, I think this is a caveat some of our less enthused companions might be at least a little happier with.

I'd like to think we aren't total jackasses. We do what we have to in order to survive, but we don't have to hurt people in the process.
