He's also not actually dressed to blend in with this place, still wearing his white cultivator robes.

Are there clothes here that aren't so...tight? [Especially around the legs! What kind of clothes are these!!] And I would like to know why there's an entire district of this place dedicated to necromancy? Isn't that sort of thing dangerous!?

[He sounds mad. Partly that's because he's concerned and that automatically means he defaults to being mad. But it's also partly because he woke up in the necromancer's district to people poking and prodding at him and he didn't like that at all.

Either way, those things combined just make him more mad.]

Rather than valuable it is simply a well-guarded secret. Kunlun Taxue Palace is the most secretive of the major sects. Disciples are accepted as young as five year olds and a year after their training begins they're admitted into their holy grounds and must remain they formed their spirit core. Naturally, such things could take years so the Icy Mist Silk was created. It grows with the wearer and is enchanted to be dirt repelling and self-cleaning. This way, apart from finding food--which is abundant in the holy ground's lake--the disciples can focus on their cultivation.

I must say I do find some value in doing simple tasks to cultivate, but I guess it's not everyone's way, and every sect has their own.

While it's not my way of cultivation there's a lot of value in simple, honest work.

[Though he knew many who looked down on such things.] You are also a cultivator?

Well, not exactly. I did study it when I was younger, and then I have kept up with some of it, but I was never in a sect myself. I had a private tutor that my parents hired to teach me.

Being in a sect isn't that important. Better to not be in a sect at all than to be associated with one whose principles don't align with one's own.

[That's his take anyway. Still...he's beginning to realize there's a benefit to this whole situation. He can find people to spar who won't be too afraid to do so! And talk to people with possibly different ways to cultivate!]

Still, it never hurts to be prepared. Perhaps we may exchange some pointers sometime.

I wouldn't dare teach anyone, but I'd be honored to hear from a Master.

No one needs to teach. We can just be two equals sharing our own experiences.

... I guess that works too. The last time I tried to teach, it didn't exactly end well, so maybe that's better.

Was it your first time teaching?

[scrapgege]

Yes. Ah, but the teaching part itself was alright, I guess. It's juts that the political situation got bad, and I had to get involved, and well, long story short, my student ended up killing me. Or, well, he thought he did. It was better to let him believe he did anyway.

...I see. How did you fool your student into thinking he killed you?

Oh, I'm quite good at appearing dead. I've done it a few times. He did put his sword right through me, so he didn't have any trouble believing it.

Were you using some sort of illusion?

[scrapgege]

Ah, no, I didn't need to. I... can't die, so it doesn't really matter if he stabbed me once or ten times. I just played dead after the first stab because I wasn't looking forward to more, and then he was angry so he sealed me in a coffin, and he didn't look too closely before he did it.

You're immortal.

[He's surprised! But also it's not unheard of, he supposed.]

I assume you were able to get out of the coffin...?

I was, yes. After a while, because as it happens, I kind of needed a bit of time to rest and not be too bothered about the rest of the world for a while, but once I was done with that, I got out.

...you decided to rest in a coffin?

[He's not horrified, exactly. Just...confused.]

It was quiet? And pretty comfortable, actually. And I knew no one would look for me there.
