Kamala was telling me about these stories she has from back in her world. I guess it's the world I'm in now, too, though, but I haven't heard a lot of stories in my time. I just need sometime to check these stories out. [ Totally matter of fact and a little more cheerful. ] When I get back, of course. Don't know if I'm gonna start calling it my world, though.

[ She smiles again and sounds more cheerful again. ] I wanna hear about your stories. Your fairy tales and legends. Or whatever you feel like talking about.

Oh, this sounds fun! [ Rin smiles brightly. ] We have lots of myths where I am from. For example, it is said that the Emperor of Japan is descended from the sun goddess, Amaterasu.

Sun goddess? How does that even happen? Gods just go, "oooo, look, pretty human. I think I want to spend some time with them?"

It's a pretty long and involved myth, but... basically at some point, Amaterasu's descendants came to live on earth and yes, have human children there. That is the Emperor's family. There were three generations in which gods transitioned to becoming human.

Why not tell us the whole story? We have time, right.

Does this men their god powers got weaker through the generations? Or did the Emperor's line have some god powers?

I don't think they do? It just gives them authority. But even that has considerably weakened since the shogun came into power.

Well, people shouldn't in charge just because of bloodlines, anyway. Should they?

What is the shogun doing?

[revengeisalie]

[ Rin blinks. ] You think so? [ That is honestly not a thought that has ever really occurred to Rin. So much in her time and place is bound up in bloodlines; both the Emperor's and the shogun's title are hereditary, as well as the titles of the lower-ranking samurai. Hell, she herself is something of an heiress, to a sword school. ]

Well, the shogun does all the real government work. The Emperor's duties are more ceremonial these days.

*I have no idea if MCU will change this, but she is in the comics

Yeah. What if they're not good at it?

[ Considering she's a princess*, it's a bold statement of her to make. But to America, does that really mean she's going to be a good leader? Nah. ]

So, sounds like the shogun is already in control, then.
