[ It's the first time he's addressed the network since arriving. Well. Arriving again< apparently. But what happened in the bathing halls needs to be known. Should be known. Even if to recount it now still brings a small shiver of discomfort.
He's spoken through worse. And his face is a resolute one when he addresses the network at large. ]
The bathing halls should be avoided if at all possible, at present. There appear to be figures forming themselves out of the dark water, made to resemble us. And it isn't just our faces they appear to be taking...
[ There's a momentary pause as his gaze goes distant, before steeling himself once more. ]
They know us. Our fears, our doubts. Wrathion and I were able to dispatch one of the creatures, but many more began to appear from the water's depths. Most were misshapen, half-formed...but all spoke with one voice. One mind, one will if that is possible.
They reached out to us, spoke from memories and dreams, offering to keep us and ours safe. They would do whatever we wanted or asked, just to be born. To exist. To be given form. They wanted us to wish them into existing. Then they were gone again, all at once, and the water had gone still once more.
[ Is there a trace of sympathy in his eyes? Perhaps. Am I worthy of existence? That question still rings in his mind, even now. ]
I would expect their desire has not ended so readily. Be cautious, should you come near large bodies of that dark water. I would not recommend doing so alone.

(Luffy shrugs.)
Which is strange because if they're there, then they're existing. I'm wondering cause we saw something strange on one of the ships. Something there could change it's shape too but I don't remember seeing any dark water.

[ Do you have time to hear about the Light, Luffy? That's a slightly more involved conversation, one he tries not to spring on people uninvited. ]
Did those figures try to take the shape of those near?

(Luffy will listen all day about the Light. Even if he doesn't believe it, doesn't mean Anduin doesn't and that's what counts....)
So. When we got there we were told there were seven sailors. But there was eight. And then we realised one of them wasn't really a sailor but something else. Then it turned into smoke! I helped to get the other sailors out and my ...friend - (For lack of better word) - he stayed behind to see what he could find out, and he said that the thing started looking like him, like taking on his face.

Though...perhaps relevant, if this darkness truly is a threat to us. And it sounds like their goal is the same, even if the methods differ.
no subject
They sound similar, we couldn't find a way to defeat it, we had to leave it on the ship in the end. The ship sank but that smoke monster can probably float.
no subject
I'd be glad to. Whenever you'd like.
And it's possible that they are connected. Perhaps in origin if not in purpose. But it's hard to say. Every time I try to consider the meaning of it, I realize just how little I know of any of this.
[ And it's all the more frustrating that he did, once. He was here before, he knew more. Now it's all a matter of catching up, feeling one step behind the entire way through. But he must try. ]

And it sounds suspicious but I don't know much about this place yet, so I'm not that sure. Everything here is so different from back home, not in a bad way, it's just hard to keep up sometimes. I think that knowing they exist is a good thing though, means we'll be ready when they show back up again.
( Though really, not knowing much is Luffy's status back home too. )

I would say that this sort of strangeness wouldn't be unusual at home, but I feel a little lost as well, at times. All the more reason for us to share what we know. As you say, better to be prepared for what could come.
It'd be difficult to defend our friends from a threat we don't understand.

I haven't seen anything like this back in my home but then we've only just set out on our adventure, so maybe there is something like this just around the corner. Smoke monsters and stuff. But I'd like to be prepared here, my crew are here and it's my job to protect them and others too. Maybe the smoke thing is something that came from another world too? Or another planet. ( The word "planet" is said slowly, Luffy having only really heard it recently. )
And if I don't understand it and it threatens my friends? I'm gonna have to punch it.

I think my father would have agreed with you, on that point.

I've gotten better at trying to see what's going on first, but not gonna lie, the enemies so far I've had to beat up. Lots of them don't like to listen? Very weird.

[ Something flickers in the back of his eyes, for a moment. ]
You can offer peace, but some people will never want it.
no subject
(It's not like some of them that Luffy has met would be interested in talking diplomacy, and in all fairness Luffy wouldn't be the best at utilising peace negotiations in the first place. He's never really come across an enemy that required it.)
I got the feeling the smoke monster we saw wasn't up for listening to anything we had to say.
no subject
[ His mouth twitches upwards faintly. The way Luffy says that is oddly endearing, despite what he knows of pirates. ]
No. I suppose not. The creature we encountered was certainly more talkative, but it all seemed in service of this goal it had. To find a form.
Mine, if it could wrest it from me or convince me to surrender it.

(There's zero capacity for any doubt in Luffy's mind. Him finding the One Piece and becoming King of the pirates is as much certainty as night following day.)
The one we fought didn't have anything to say, but then maybe it couldn't? They have to get permission to take a form? Wait, do you think they'd take uh, abilities if they copy someone too?
no subject
Where other abilities are concerned, I'm less certain. Perhaps if it had time to fully take on that person's attributes. Who's to say what they'd be capable of?

If we could communicate with them without them trying to attack us or take our forms, it would be one thing. Learning their motives, perhaps finding a way to appease them, peacefully?
