I spoke with our old friend the Huntress earlier. She confirmed a few suspicions. Her and her husband the Beastmaster were granted their powers by the White Wanderer. From him, she says, he used no artefact. She took it willingly, she says, but he didn't explain the full consequence. She was offered a shield, a way to defend herself. He asked for nothing in return, only to spread his message. She couldn't say exactly what that meant, that he was here. That his creatures are. She believed his daughter was important in some way, to this.

She believes they have all been used. That it all began with Matthias, and must end with him. She wants him dead, I am certain.

Incidentally, it seems it isn't her choice to ride unclothed. She says clothes burn when they touch her. A somewhat crass touch, I think.

I will be around the auction if anyone desires to find me.

It was a ring with a compartment on it. Inside the compartment is some black hair? Guessing it's her husband or her son's. I never met either so I can't get much of a read on it.

On the lid of the ring, it says Kathul. I asked around. Some of the sailors are saying it's a location south of here.

Interesting. I hadn't the impression they had much left their village before things turned... sour.

Did you ever meet the husband or the son? Maybe you could figure out whose hair it is by that. But maybe it is the son's if what you're saying is right, and they were fighting before they left the village. Doubt she'd want his hair then.

...didn't she like toss her son into a fucking volcano though?

She gave him up to the House of Ravens, yes, which was connected to a volcano. The child appeared to have dark hair. It was... difficult to tell with the Beastmaster himself, given the state he was in, but it seemed as if dark hair ran in his family. It could have been either of them.

...so some hair and a potential location to visit. I know the Merchant usually decides where we go, but wonder if he'd swing us elsewhere if we had reason enough to go.

Not sure if this is reason enough.

Hard to tell. It's a lead, of sorts, but it could simply be a place they went to visit once. It maybe there is nothing there to find, it may be there is plenty.

True. Feels like it has to be important if it's etched on to the ring like it is. But I'm also not interested in the beacon at all so... guess I've been focused more on what's happening in this world.

Figure most of this group want to try to get back, and who knows if there's a beacon that way.

Yeah.

( She doesn't want to know what happens when she goes back when the last thing she remembers is Hades pulling her back into the Underworld. )

What about you? You got someone or something waiting at home for you?

The years did not improve matters for you, then?

[ Anduin will be waiting. He won't remember, but he still will be there. Wrathion isn't certain he can take him back Vigilance, but since they won't remember he won't miss the thing. ]

They did get much better for the most part. I think this place just has some shitty timing or amazing timing. I also get we don't exactly belong here so whatever happens will happen. I'll go back if I have to.

( She'll go back and face Hades if she has to, but she's not excited to do so - she knows he's likely to destroy her for leaving. )

Then you've got to get back to your people. I wouldn't expect you to want to go to some place that has no beacon and just some supposed ties to the Huntress.

Few of them are truly my people. At least one of them, however, is important to me.

I'm not gonna hop on the nearest beacon, but if we're somehow damaging this world by being here, it's not really right for me to stay either.

( And it's hard to say what their presence here in the long term might do. Red knows enough about worlds, about realms, about fate to understand that. )

We could organise a detour, maybe? There are some very adept runners in our group, and people who have the incentive to figure out what the Huntress' real deal is.

I know she can take control and has taken control of several of the group ( including Hermione but Red won't talk about that publicly in case she doesn't want others to know ). Seems like that's not a threat we should let go running around freely to do whenever she'd like, and I'd be down for some revenge myself. ( for what she did to Hermione alone )

Well, yeah, she is unlikely to be there so the information will serve us later, but that is the ultimate goal, right? She needs to be stopped.

I don't disagree with this, she does. But if we head out there with revenge on the mind, we will be reckless. And trust me, I know this is rich coming from me, after I dragged you - both of you - into the forest to find her heart.

If you know how to channel your emotions well, you don't have to be reckless about it. It's like having your cake and eating it too. Granted, I'm not so great at channeling but I am real great at compartmentalizing, which works the same. Not ruled by my feelings. No recklessness will be part of this, but fuck that shithead, lets take her down.
