He's a high-ranking official openly stating his disdain for his king to an outsider he has no reason to trust. Either he's actually as stupid as Deimar thinks him to be, or he has a plan.

It's what I was born to do, Master Five. I have been in Thyvault's place quite literally. I was the Imperial regent for my nephew while we were at war with the neighboring country.

And if Lord Thyvault is mad about it, maybe next time he'll remember to specify how long prisoners are supposed to be held.

It could be many things given the magic involved here... I am curious about why the undead lord has just not invaded the whole place given that he materially could, so obviously, there is something going on here as well. I don't think this whole 'gate to hell' is the whole story.

It probably isn't, but it's the most important part. If he understood how volatile it is, he wouldn't be trying so hard to upset the balance.
