I can lend you an orange to start peeling, have your nose tingling in all different ways.

( he chuckles, though he's curious to the degree of wondering if this person's nose is more sensitive than an average humans, or far more sensitive than that. or to what extent it mattered, as long as no one was coming after him as primary target for some yet to be known reason.

possibly being a storm-struck asshole, but that seemed thin. all the nonsense of these ships in their piracy and the follower who'd burned and then been... there still, that Concord, and yet people were still largely being sensible.

unlike the island this person's mentioning.
)

The whole island felt wrong long before it moved. Not one bird, insect, anything. Nothing healthy is as silent as that whole place was. Crediting these people with knowing anything about it seems a bit of a stretch, love. They'd have been laughing when we were scrambling back.

( he sounds amused by this, since he is, and it masks how deeply unnerved the whole island left him feeling. ships aren't a preferred habitat of his, but when compared to the island? even the dead crawling around, or haunting around, was better, largely because the bodied ones died, and the haunting ones couldn't do anything but be loud. small favours. )
