[ The video opens with Wen Qing, dressed in trousers and a ruffled white shirt, looking fairly annoyed. She holds up an orange. ] This is an orange. There are barrels of them in the hold. Eat them. You don't need to have one daily, but make sure you're eating one every few days.

[ She glances away, mouthing something to someone just out of video range, and then she looks back to the communication device, flipping it around. Standing there is a sailor, unwashed and grimy. He's holding up a tooth, still bloody, and grinning proudly. This isn't the first tooth he's lost; most of them are gone, and his gums are bloody. Wen Qing continues over the camera. ]

This gentleman is a fine example of what will happen should you forget to eat them. [ The "do not forget to eat them" is heavily implied. She flips the device back, still frowning. ]

As Miss Eda mentioned, the sailors seem afraid of women so none of them will listen to me about the oranges. Someone pass on the message to them.

They don't exactly thrill me. And I'm willing to bet that teeth business is a human thing. No reason for me to worry.

[Honestly? He had no idea if your average elf would need oranges or not. Vampire spawn certainly didn't, but he was technically still hiding that. Sort of.]

[ Those are distinctly unique ears, ones she's never seen. She'd dismissed it as a quirk— there are unusual people around, after all. ] That makes you not human?

Oh gods, another one. [He brings a hand to his forehead in a dramatic display of woe. Why was this place like this?] No, I'm not human. There's other options out there, you know. ...Or I suppose you don't, rather. I'm an elf, darling. Teu-tel-quessir and all that. Am I really your first?

An elf. [ And clearly, she isn't the first to now know about elves, so she's just going to ignore his question. ] What do you eat?

I eat enough, thank you. [It turned out that some sailors were perfectly willing to give up quite a lot of their blood in exchange for shiny objects or a little flirting. Though some of them certainly tasted better than others. Maybe the scurvy was why?] You really should focus on the sailors, though. We can't risk our crew swooning and spitting out teeth all the time.

[ Well, she'll take that as a sign he's actually eating. ] It's rather difficult to focus on them when they mutter curses at me and run away as soon as I get close.

They are so much more fond of male company, aren't they? Well, I suppose I can convince some of them to eat more fruit.

As long as they are healthy, although that does not seem to apply to their own. [ They'll take the known sick ones over the unknown, it seems. ] It would be beneficial for everyone, and I am sure you can find a way.
