ooc: Dated to after the visit to Ke-Waiar. I took forever...
[ Sizui's expression is thoughtful and concerned, though not too far from serenity. He was worried about Wei Wuxian but also a lot of other people, after all. ]
This is Lan Sizhui, and I would share some recently acquired knowledge from a nearby village.
For those who did not go to Ke-Waiar in the recent attempt to bring different water from there, we encountered a strange ailment plaguing a number of the villagers - while normal and polite people during the day, by evening they would become angry and short-tempered, and at night they would turn into creatures that are part wolf, aggressive and dangerous. Lycanthropy, it seems to be called, and the residents of Ke-Waiar have built structures in the trees in the woods nearby to make sure anyone not suffering from it but caught outside the village has shelter from their neighbors.
The condition does not appear to be contagious, but some youths may become affected after they turn sixteen summers or so - though such youths are not necessarily the children of affected adults.
After inquiring more, I was told that the condition started about a year after the previous eruption of Ke-Sanwon... and that the last people to leave the village before that in the year before the curse started were two people who came separately - a gently mannered wanderer, and months later, the Beasmaster, who had already become as he is as part of the Brotherhood.
This information might not affect us directly, or it might. Or it might be a part of a larger story, and knowing it will make a difference to us eventually.
I thought it better to share what I have learned, rather then invite trouble by not asking at Ke-Waiar, or by keeping silent.

Hanguang-jun.
I am unharmed. Senior Wei was not best pleased with how the night went, however.

And that Beastmaster... I don't like that guy. I don't like that guy at all.

I do not think that they were looking for a cure. They would just let those who transformed at night sleep off their exhaustion the next day.
As for the Beastmaster... our experience with undead lords has not led us to believe your opinion is likely to change.
[ The Brotherhood are problematic. Even Sizhui can say that much. ]

Unless they like transforming, I guess.

To me, they did not seem particularly eager for the transformations, but not particularly eager to find a solution, either. Perhaps like people knowing a strong wind is coming - they may not like it, but they know how to prepare themselves and endure.

[ And very familiar, but she's not about to tell him that. ]
Very considerate of them to build shelters from their own furry selves.

There hasn't been a full moon recently, and...you say they turn aggressive every night? How strange...
There are people afflicted by lycanthropy where I'm from, though the behaviour and symptoms are different. And it's definitely not a volcano that turns them. But maybe... [Wolfsbane potion was Snape's expertise and she doesn't have the ingredients list for it, not at all.]
I'll look through my book. Maybe there are plants here that can be used to temper them?

... Interesting that the people of the other village are cursed in different ways, and some that seem to more directly relate to the Beastmaster himself. The Ancestors' curse here seem to relate more to the undead side, and that... lycanthropy? seems to be more on the beast side.
Isn't there a third village, too? I wonder how they are cursed.
[Moran, you're totally forgetting we're talking about people here.]
