[There's silence at first. One that stretches long enough to make people think maybe whoever this is posted by mistake (but no, he's just bad at this whole asking for help thing). If this were just for himself he wouldn't be doing this but this is for the sake of a spirit who had passed on after being betrayed. He could lower his head to ask for help for that.]

But I can't seem to grind this ink stone without it rotting away.
[The paper and brush he had brought with him from Taravast but the ink stone he'd managed to get here so they're, sadly, affected by the curse.
He said this all rather curtly and stiffly, because he really....really didn't know how to ask for help. There's another short pause before he adds.]
I also keep bleeding from my hands. I need a way to keep the blood off the talismans I'm trying to write. [Why is his first question not to stop the bleeding? Because his priorities are weird.]

[But, it's true that if they're both writing talismans this could go faster and the man's spirit can be laid to rest sooner...
So he hesitates, his expression complicated, then he adds,]

[That's acceptable. Don't point out him helping with Without A Cure or anything else. Those clearly do not count.]

[ Though really, don't owe him anything, he planned to cheat by duplicating one into a stack with his cool cheat sikill. ]

He curtly gives the directions to where he's staying. Upon arrival it's clear he's set up his talisman writing station at the table...and he's kind of made a haphazard mess of it already. He's trying not to bleed on his robe only because he doesn't want to do laundry.]

He wasted no time to come over, and with bandages, really, he wasn't just going to sit there and write and let this man bleed all over, that was just ridiculous. ]

[ In both real basic first aid, and xianxia first aid which was way easier to BS as long as the cultuvation was high enough and followed the xianxia rules. ]

[He frowns. Still, he does pull his hands back out and, using only his finger tips (which were devoid of blood) to slide some papers over. Which, given how much stuff there is on the table actually knocks over a cup on the edge of the table, sending it falling to the floor. Chu Wanning didn't appear to care.
Then he slid one of the completed talismans over.]
It's a talisman that, when burnt in offering, will have the effect of calming spirits.
[He explains only because he wasn't sure if the talismans from where they're from are similar enough to be recognized.]

[ He examined the talisman, he felt he could replicate this simple enough, it wasn't that different from anything else. ]

I have not met the spirit of the man I am writing these for. [So he does not know how many will be needed, but...] Given what I have seen of this place, it would be best to write extras.
[But also, he's staring at that cup you caught thoughtfully.] Are you thirsty?
[As if he can't conceive any other reason why you picked up (read: caught) that cup.]

He placed the cup gently to the side of the table, hopefully in a place where it wouldnt fall over. ]

{His voice is cold as he pulled another piece of paper to himself...but not to write on it. Rather he's trying to locate one of the ink stones he had left.]

[He's confused but that makes him look a little irritated...but also embarrassed??? Which only made him look more annoyed.
Still, he let the papers be moved without any extra fuss.]

...some so-called fathers are like that, aren't they? If you disobey them or do not do what they consider ideal they will turn on you with no warning.
[At least, he's had experience with that.]

[ He didn't even pause to wait if there was going to be protest, he was glad there wasn't any in particular. ]
Is that so?
[ If he thought about it, maybe the prevalence of abused and orphaned children in cultivation stories sort of led to that assumption. ]
My father was quite easy to get along with.

Of course he was. [It wasn't his experience but he also knows that not everyone is as unlikeable as him. For someone like Shen Qingqiu who was both handsome and good-natured and likeable (if a little bit of a busybody), naturally his father would be get along well with him.]
It is not as if all fathers are like that. Our sect leader is both a wonderful father and affectionate husband. But there are others that will not be that way.

Of course there will be abusive fathers, abusive fathers make for worth while scenarios. But generally the faceless masses seem happy enough in their families.
