[ It will please Alina to know that there is an immediate reaction: all throughout Taravast, rumours start to spread of the lady Odile and her motives, with many questioning her reasons and disposition. She is accused, constantly, of doing whatever it takes to ingratiate herself with Macaluso, or of serving his enemies — why else give notice of the poison? How else could she have known? And why, if she were honest and true, did she not interrupt the banquet's progression and stop the poison from being distributed?

It all crests in a difficult choice that Lady Odile will announce shortly. ]
