From what I've heard in the other stories was that he was traveling to Taravast to rescue his epic love. And there was a betrayal? I think Lily knows more about it than I do.

When someone is rude you tell them they're an asshole or something, not that they're dead. Especially if they didn't know it before. If you don't plan on assisting them in passing on, what was the point? What do you expect to happen after that?
