I've been able to convince the shy... bird-like servants to all me to look at their injuries and tend to them. In the course, two of them told me to beware of Julien.

I haven't bothered speaking with the man. What have any of you seen or noticed that would back up the servant's concerns? Such things aren't offered without reason.

I want to know why. Appearing... monstrous, yes, that can be shocking. But there's a difference between the appearance of a monster and the actuality of it.

Which isn't even the point. Julien is, if even the servants here can't trust him. And he can't trust the prince around us. Even if we're supposed to be here at the prince's tolerance.

Monsterous is what the servants who've been changed think of their appearance. It's what their prince appears as.

I'm not sure where else you're choosing to apply the word. People hardly need to be monstrous to be unworthy of trust.

Yes, as polite. The bird-like ones have injuries from poor adaptation to their changed forms. They've needed more care.

You adapt when there's no simply changing the reality. I don't believe most of them truly find peace in this nonsense.

Resignation, yes. People often give up too soon.
