[Another world. She's in another world.

Okay.

She sits through most of Kasra's introduction and that's the thing that sticks with her. She's not sure if these people are too primitive to recognize that they're just a planet in a bigger solar system, but when she tried to get into the outer atmosphere and see what she was working with well.

That didn't work. Something to interrogate later. For now, she's going to play to the assumption another world means another universe, so she's not going to waste the opportunity. Maybe it's connected to how their powers were entangled and she was brought to the same place Monica is.

The first shot is a ginger cat and a pair of feet. The cat is looking up at the camera, swishing their tail, and eventually the camera wheels around when Carol realizes a hologram isn't going to pop up for the picture. There's a small "huh" when she finds it and says:]

Captain Rambeau, this is Captain Danvers, do you copy?

[And because this is just blasting out to everyone and she's not unaware of that:]

My name is Carol Danvers. I'm looking for a woman named Monica Rambeau. She's five-five, black, slim. She was last seen wearing a white and black suit with a silver emblem on the front. Possibly glowing. If you have any information on her current whereabouts I would greatly appreciate it.

[She is so not great at this, especially because she has nothing to offer. She also isn't sure her repuation has preceeded her, which could be both good and bad. Either way, she hopes this helps. So she'll finish awkwardly with:]

[Before disconnecting and waiting for responses.]

It was a long shot anyway.

[She's both desperate to get Monica back and also has a hard time believing that Monica will actually come back, so. It's complicated. It was what needed to be done, but it also really sucks, considering Carol had just gotten Monica back.]

But I had to try.

[ A solemn nod of understanding, but she perks up to ask: ]

What is the cat's name?

Oh, that's Goose.

[She will turn the camera so that Yelena can get a better look, because Goose is very photogenic, and will appreciate the attention.]

She came through with me - you called it a beacon?

Sorry, can't say I've seen her.

[ A beat, then Eda quirks a lopsided smile. ]

Fresh meat, huh? Welcome. As welcome as you're gonna get, anyway.

Thanks. The impression I've gotten is this place isn't exactly designed to be welcoming.

Has it been kidnapping people long?

Well, I don't know the exact amount of time, but... over a year, for sure.

But, eh, you look like the sort who can handle it.

[She makes a face at that. She really doesn't want to be stuck here for a year, but looks like she doesn't really have much of a choice.]

Has it all been moving from beacon to beacon?

[ America's not quite a magnet for trouble, no. Carol probably has her beat, there. But different universe shenanigans? Yes, definitely. ]

A few months. So not as long as some people. Not an easy place to get out of, though.

[Kamala is heartbroken over losing Monica, her memories, and suddenly regaining one and not the other. She's cried a lot today. Her head hurts and her cheeks feel tight. Kamala shouldn't be walking around in such an emotional state. She reasons she needs time to think. Right now wandering around until the sucker punch of knowing what she's both lost and regained seems like a great way to accomplish that. It's during this she stumbles onto Carol answering messages on the pendant.

She acts before she can think it through. Kamala runs as fast as she can and launches herself at Carol. Her arms close around the woman in a tight hug as she rambles.]

I'm pretty sure I manifested you being here and I'm sorry, okay? Mostly because I'm not that sorry you're here. We really need you, Carol. Ms. Marvel isn't enough. I tried to be enough here and it just never works out. I hate it.

[Or maybe she's just overwhelmed. It's been a long day.]

[Seeing Kamala upset is not the vibe, and she's about ready to pull a "Who did this to you?" and go photon blast the source in the face, but as she listens it isn't really a person so much as the weight of whatever this world is. Carol's arms move around Kamala quickly, holding her close, asking on instinct as she tries to connect the dots.

Kamala is here. Kamala has been here longer than she has?]

Hey, it's okay.

[It's so much, carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders. Carol would know, and she hates that she seems to have picked that up here, on a world that isn't hers and a place that's not their home. She has so many questions, but she doesn't know how to articulate them. She's not always good at that.

Goose winds her way over, brushing against Kamala's ankles to say hello, injecting herself into the space to demand attention the way cats do.]

Tell me what happened.

[She smiles despite how crummy she feels when Goose brushes by. There had been a time when the alien freaked her out. Having Goose nearby helps. It's something familiar when things have fallen apart.

She draws back from the hug to explain.] I've been here before... for a while actually. I have a notebook with all the backstory for this place in comic form. We'll have to get it from my friend Five.

[She rambles as she tries to organize her thoughts.] Long story short? Things are bad here. There's this guy who is pretty much-wrecking worlds and makes undead as a side hobby. It's everyone's problem. I think it's to bring his daughter back to life, but who knows? He's not someone I ever want to talk to again.

[She shudders at the thought. It's Najima all over again. She wishes she could stop feeling bad for him the way she did that awful woman.] We all have different ideas on how to handle what his presence does to whatever place he goes to while we try to head home. Sometimes I really do not like how the group decides to handle things. Maybe Captain Marvel can convince them to do better.

[She suggests or hopes aloud. Kamala quickly feels a swell of guilt for it. Carol is a person. She needs to stop thinking she'll magically solve everything by being beautiful and glowy.

Kamala quickly shakes her head.] But, you don't have to. If you want to try to escape here and not get involved? I'll follow your lead as much as I can. You've gone through enough.

[As much as she loves Monica, she is Carol's family. They both just lost her. This isn't really the time to bully people into listening to their better angels.]

[ Kamala has spoken of Carol Danvers plenty, glowingly so. Emilia would be remiss not to recognize the name. But at her core is a mistrusting nature, one that is not readily apparent by the look of her, warm brown eyes and flowers woven in her hair.

And so, she is careful. ]

There is no Monica Rambeau in our group, to my recollection, but she may have arrived with you.

[ It isn't unheard of. Emilia was fortunate enough to end up in this world alongside her husband ... who she did not know was her husband at the time. Details. ] Have you found her?

[captain_marvel]

No. But it was a long shot in the first place.

[So she's not too upset about it, she was just hoping.

Also, honestly, she doesn't think Kamala should idolize her either, and as far as Carol's aware they've made pretty good strides of Kamala seeing Carol as a person and Carol being okay with another young girl looking up to her. Progress!]

But planets are big places so maybe we just haven't tracked her down yet.

[She's trying to be hopeful. She's not very good at hope, so she also probably doesn't sound that convincing.]

[ Her own attempts at hope are a hit and miss. She knows it is a daring enterprise, and that it takes true strength: to dream of better days while your current world is a living nightmare. Her nature is not one predisposed to do such a thing.

It is skeptical, cynical, and ever furious. But she does try.

Her initial caution gives way to curiosity. ]

You speak as though you have traveled between planes prior to this.

[ They've only ever really interacted in the aftermath of war, but familiar faces are rare, and an ally is an ally. ]

[Carol is the kind of person where a lot of people know her, but she doesn't really register people as important until they've interacted for more than a few minutes. So while she knows she has met Strange before, what actually comes out is:]

You're Wong's guy, right? The doctor?

[ God. There's a very brief moment where that lands, and it's almost a blow— and then he smiles, wry and muted. It doesn't sting as much as it did once, to be right hand to Wong's Sorcerer Supreme. ]
