[ Instead of pointing the pendant at herself, Nami aims it so that the top of the table she's sitting at is what's in the frame instead. ]
This is a book I took from the chained god's room. [ She begins as she opens the book and starts leafing through the pages, making sure she lingers on each so the people watching on the other end of whatever this not den den mushi based network can get a good look at the contents while she thumbs through ]
There's a lot in here, and, weirdly, some of it looks like it was written recently. From what I've read, it sounds like the men of Ephes turned on the god and chained him up. One historian in here, Gallia Salusa, mentions that because the god didn't have a physical form to start with, the men waited until the timing was on their side, and this god - put himself together, or whatever it did, gaining a form - they think just from slowly accumulating power - so could be chained in the first place. [ She's seen that thing, it's gross. ]
The book also talks about how that worm god thing isn't the only being like this around, but like the chained god before whatever happened to him, happened - they don't have a physical form, and want one
[ Nami shuts the book finally turning the communicator around on herself so she's visible, along with the interior of the rundown windmill she and her crew have posted up in. There might even be one or two straw hats or perhaps an errant clown pirate milling around in the background, who knows? ]
Oh, and, that whale fishman told me about how the borders of Ephes - both land and sea - are much bigger than the space this place is occupying, but after the chained god was captured the dark water's been encroaching from many sides - something that's obvious to the farmers and the fishermen but not as much to everybody else.
[ She sits back in her seat, shrugging plaintively at whoever's on the other end of this not-a-snail, tempted to just end the message there before she remembers herself– ]
I'm Nami, by the way. If you want to meet up, take a look at the book, and tell me more about what's going on here, that's fine with me. I've got a crew to get back to the East Blue and any information is useful at this point.
[ ooc: a link to the initial comment with this info about the book, since Nami is slowly paging through it for the network, feel free to use the info in the comment if you want to let your character clock a snippet or two as she goes or something.

Any time. My crew and I are staying in the old windmill by the docks, though uh– [ How to put a fine point on it, while still being nice enough that one of the guys doesn't overhear and come complaining. ]
Just be prepared, they all have strong personalities. [ Sorry about Sanji in advance pretty lady. ]
no subject
Not to worry. I can handle strong.
[ She can be a handful herself. Her husband once likened her to a cataclysm, and though he'd meant it as a compliment of sorts at the time, he is also known for being fond of what others might find terrifying. ]
Is now a good time?

Just...give me a minute to make sure they're decent.
[ Wrong word, but too late, she's out of frame and leaving Emilia to admire the confines of the rundown bedroom Nami's claimed for her own. A few of the golden mice she pilfered from the colosseum coming over to sniff at the communicator and squeak into it while, from within the windmill Nami's voice can be heard telling whoever's unlucky enough to be in the windmill at this point, that someone's coming by and they need to act normal.
Then, she's back. ]
Sure, you can come over. There might be a drunk green-haired guy with swords sleeping outside, but just - leave him there, he lives here.

I'll be sure to keep this in mind.
[ A very solemn vow. ]
Normally, I would bring an offering of sorts. But my role as gladiator keeps me far away from any kitchens. [ It just feels like the thing to do! And she likes feeding people. In lieu of that, however, she'll bring a notebook of her own.
Some of the things she's jotted down during her time in Akhuras, if Nami has questions. Knock knock. ]

With a puff of a sigh, Nami pulls open the door, greeting Emilia with a small smile as she steps to the side to let the lady into the rundown windmill. The space isn't in terrible shape, from a certain point of view it could even be considered cozy, with enough furniture for Nami to be able to offer Emilia a seat at the table by where she's left the book. ]
Help yourself, and don't worry about the food. If you're hungry, Sanji's around - he'll feed you if we ask.

Is he, are these people, from your same world?
[ Nami is new enough that it strikes her she already seems to have her own crew. ]
no subject
What about you? Do you have people from home here with you?

Only my husband. [ And ... this is a very good thing. Akhuras is dangerous enough — it does not need her sister or Wrath's brothers stirring up their own version of trouble. The mere thought is enough to leave her somewhat uneasy.
Confident strides lead her to the table, fingers tracing the edge close to where the book sits. When she turns back around, it's with one eyebrow slightly arched, her expression suggesting she's a little impressed. ]
You said you took this from the Chained God's room?

She stays where she is, sizing Emilia up as the woman crosses the room and heads toward the book. From what Nami can tell, it doesn't seem like she's a fighter, but there's a gravitas about the dark-haired woman that suggests Emilia isn't one to be messed with anyway. It's an aura she can appreciate, even as she makes note of it. ]
That's right. Luffy and I made it down to the gates and– [ And she doesn't want to think about the sacrifice that Luffy so trustingly handed himself up for to get those gates open. ] It was a pain in the ass to get there, and since it was chained up on the floor and couldn't stop me– [ She had been shaken to the core and crying her eyes out, stolen straw hat on her head, the shock in Luffy's eyes burned into her mind. ] I figured I should make the trip worth it.

I'm all the more grateful you're willing to share, then. We do our best to keep each other informed.
[ It's gotten them this far, at least, though not necessarily intact. ]
And we arrived together, yes. [ With Emilia's memory erased, so she did not realize he was her husband, and thought him her enemy instead. Ahem. ] That's not necessarily the norm. I'm glad you have somebody. [ Somebodies. ]
no subject
So - do you have a map of this place? Akhuras?

I've made some minor adjustments, as this was retrieved five years ago.
[ A pause. ]
There was a time traveling incident.
