Carnivorous, with a tendency to ensnare with tendrils.

Perhaps not too much trouble for a grown adult, but still not the loveliest experience.

If I had more sympathy for it, could I have simply allowed people to discover for themselves?

Perhaps that is how it became part of the decorations. But many things look innocent which are not, or look complicated when they are simple.
