You've all already seen the message from Shen Qingqiu about how he and Eleven have been arrested, so I will skip the redundancies.

Wei Wuxian, Five, and I have been able to piece together that they were taken by Rigarda due to the failed weapons shipment they were tasked with last month, we've learned that the two of them and the weapons will be sent out of the city eastward to be delivered to the undead lords meant to be appeased on Taravast's behalf.

Given the chaos in the city at present, the suspicious eyes on our group, and the very heavy fortifications of Rigarda's mansion, we've decided to disguise ourselves and intercept the shipment of the weapons once it's out of the city. We intend to retrieve Shen Qingqiu and Eleven and flee without leaving any casualties, so the convoy can resume the rest of its delivery.

If anyone has heard anything from or about Eleven and Shen Qingqiu, or if you've got some skill with stunning or otherwise incapacitating people while in a rush, your help would be appreciated. We need to be as discrete as possible and do what we can so that our actions go unnoticed, I have no desire to end up in prison as well.

Otherwise, if you don't mind - if asked we were with you the whole time.

Do we want more reasons for people to riot because their loved ones were sacrificed to their ruler's ego?

And also, I do, as a matter of fact, possess a modicum of empathy in spite of my practical nature. Jut because people getting hurt is inevitable doesn't mean it does nothing to me to see it.

They've been used as guinea pigs, and punished for seeking help. Beyond mere human compassion, it would not be unnoticed by the people outside the palace if we do help them out, but it needs to not be noticed by some people inside the palace.

I grew up in a place just like this. Everyone is a spy unless proven otherwise.

Might be a good time to come up with your backup plan.

The backup plan would be escaping the city in one piece because ultimately, it's not really any of our business how they deal with this matter and I don't think the Merchant would be too hard pressed if this place decided to raze itself to the ground.

I am sure I'm not the only one. I have my own selfish interest in getting the person I think would be the best to come out on top, but in the end, this is not my country, and not exactly my problem either.

[Even though he doesn't forget people and lives are involved, it is a bit hard at time to not consider the whole thing like a purely intellectual exercise since it doesn't really matter int he grand scheme of things.]

It could play out a little differently than it did when we burned down the farm. But I'm sure we can put our faith in the Merchant to bail us out.

He has no interest in seeing us killed, and particularly not here, I believe, since there are people here who can reanimate us and make us do their bidding should that happen.

[ Five doesn’t doubt that, but his motives have become questionable lately. He’s halfway convinced Taravast falling was his goal all along.

Putting all their fates in the hand of one person doesn’t sit well, but what can they do? Not that he’s losing confidence in his own backup plan… ]

He doesn’t seem that concerned about losing allies after all he invested in them.

The thing is, I hardly think he considers us allies. Which is not necessarily a bad thing. If we are more akin to the wares he normally transports, he is more likely to want to keep us in one piece.
