Humbly Puts before the Piazza:

As everyone has doubtless heard, the noble Don Macaluso, grandson and heir to the illustrious Don Bonaccorso, Doxe of this grand city, hosted a banquet in which many of his honored guests were poisoned.

I ask you, if this man cannot protect his closest supporters, how on earth can he protect the people of this city?

Just today, he offered to buy us off, those guests of his who were poisoned. 150,000 gold pieces, to forgive and serve him. Naturally one and all rejected him.

This is competence? This is morality? This would be the face of such a beautiful and prosperous city?
